Chris Paul is having the best season of his 4-year NBA career and one of the best from a point guard in the history of the NBA. He is being mentioned among other big names in this years MVP race and is undoubtly the most valuable player to our New Orleans Hornets.

By: Hornet Henry, Hornets.com
Good day, fellow Hornets supporters! It’s your close friend Hornet Henry checking in again. Well, the fellas have headed out West for a three-game road trip, allowing us to watch the Hornets play on Cox Sports TV, in between squeezing in all of our Mardi Gras-related activities this weekend.
Our guys will be back in our beloved NOLA on Wednesday against the Pistons, before wrapping up a brief two-game homestand on Friday against the Milwaukee Bucks. Frankly, I don’t see why you wouldn’t find a way to attend BOTH games, but for our purposes here, I thought I’d focus on the Milwaukee game.
Here are my top 10 reasons to make the commendable decision to grace us with your presence during Friday’s interconference grudge match against the Bucks (tip-off 7 p.m.):
10) Pregame partying on Girod Street.
The third post-All-Star break Zatarain’s Buzz Fest commences at precisely 5:30 p.m. outside the Hive. If you haven’t stopped by Buzz Fest before a Hornets home game yet this season, what in tarnation are you waiting for? We’re talking about free interactive games, live music and $1 beers for fans (not to mention free cerveza for season ticket holders).
Heck, at those prices, I might even consider buying a Spurs fan a brewski or two… OK, OK, you got me. You’re right – I still wouldn’t.
9) Live music from Flashback.
Once you’ve quenched your thirst at Buzz Fest, you can listen to the outstanding sounds of the New Orleans band Flashback, who will be playing classic hits from back in the day. I saw on their MySpace page that one of their best songs is “Hungry Like the Wolf” by Duran Duran. A very nice selection.
8) Hornets Drumline time!
Speaking of live music, the Hornets Drumline will be performing on the court during a first-half timeout. If you’re not familiar with “HDL,” it’s a group of 15 proficient percussionists who maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA and thoroughly enjoy entertaining the daylights out of Hornets aficionados like you and I.
7) A chance to sport your grooviest gear.
Friday will be the final Hardwood Classics Night of this season. As part of the festivities, it will be “70s Night” in the Hive. I’m planning to mark the occasion by wearing my snazziest leisure suit and bellbottom drawers.
6) Bucs vs. Bucks.
It may sound confusing, but the Hornets will be donning their retro New Orleans Bucs uniforms for the final time in Friday’s game against the Bucks.
5) A Honeybees Spotlight featuring Heather.
I’ve been collecting them all, so I know that the rookie dance-team member from Ville Platte will be the 12th Honeybees Spotlight of the season in the GameTime program, out of 21. Only nine more to go, and I’ll have the complete set!
4) Let’s keep the Friday streak alive.
Thanks to the contributions of Hornets fans this season, the ballclub has sold out each of its last four Friday home games, including tilts vs. Toronto, Golden State, the Clippers and Houston (among a total of 11 sellouts entering Wednesday's game against Detroit). Where are all of those skeptics and naysayers who said NOLA couldn’t support the NBA now?
3 Peja for 3!
The last time your Hornets faced the Bucks, on Feb. 13 of last season, Agent Euro drained the game-deciding trey. I can’t wait to see what Mr. Stojakovic has in store for Milwaukee this time.
2) A chance to sit in the best seats in sports!
In case you missed this while you were uploading a new video to Swarm City, none other than ESPN: The Magazine recently picked New Orleans Arena’s Section 104, Row 20, Seat 1 as the “best seat in sports,” based partly on the Hive’s convenience and fan-friendliness. Now, I realize ESPN: The Magazine is no Hornets Magazine, but that’s still some lofty praise, don’t you think?
And the Number One reason to attend Friday’s Hardwood Classics extravaganza in the Hive is… “M-V-P!” “M-V-P!”
If I’m not mistaken, I heard the first MVP chant in the Hive of the season for Chris Paul during the Feb. 18 game against Orlando. All CP3 did in that game was score 36 points by the end of the third quarter, dole out 10 assists and grab six rebounds. I mean, the guy already has a handful of triple-doubles this season. Why in the world would you want to miss ANY of CP3MVP’s games?
Well, I’ve said my peace. Now all that’s left is for you to join me in the Hive on Friday, when your Hornets try to keep climbing the standings in the rugged Western Conference. I’ll see you at the game!
Ive heard some people saying that the New Orleans Hornets arent talented enough to go anywhere in the playoffs and maybe even not make the playoffs! The Hornets have plenty of talent! What about Julian Wright hes an athletic player that can score and get big time rebounds off the bench. And what about their very solid group of starters. They alone can take this team to the playoffs and then make a run into the playoffs pretty far. What about the younger players (Melvin Eli, Julian Wright) who never give up and never quit. Chris Paul is one of the best players in the league. He is a perrinial all-star (starter) and can develop into a year after year MVP candidate. He came close last year and is hunting for his first one this year and in years to come. He is the nucleus of this team and can take the whole team on his shoulders through tough streches. Another quality presence on the team is veteran James Posey. He is one of only two players, along with Rasual Butler, on the team who has played in every game this season. That shows how tough he is. What about the other all-star David West. He is a "beast" in the paint. He can rack up the points and rebounds in bunches. Also when Tyson Chandler gets better this team will get alot more rebounds and blocks with his 7'1 frame. Every player on the team is a part that can step up and win anything they want. They are in the mix to win a championship ring. It would be their first in franchise history. They have a young team and are aiming to get better. So when I think about the New Orleans Hornets I dont think about not being talented. I think about many championships in their future and many oppurtunities to improve. New players coming in through the draft, trades, and the very talented free agent class of 2010. I see plenty of ways that this team can win. The New Orleans Hornets have talent!
Chris Paul was one of the two point guards in the league that were chosen as All-Star starters. It is a great honor for him and he should be proud. I beleive he is good enough to win the MVP award for the all-star game. He can score against anybody on that floor and if he can help the West bring home the bragging rights, I think he would end up with the big trophy. That would be a great honor for this franchise and the whole town of New Orleans. I can see a triple double coming out of this young player in the all-star game. That would probably give him the trophy.
