* Wright’s first concert was held in Milwaukee, when he was 12 or 13 years old. Milwaukee is roughly a 90-minute drive from Wright’s hometown of Chicago.

** Wright explained that one of the main reasons he prefers R&B to hip-hop is that the subject matter is generally deeper. “You hear a lot more in the lyrics about things you deal with on a daily basis, including relationships,” Wright said.

*** Brown says that although he still possesses the “embarrassing” CDs of all three country music singers he listed, they haven’t gotten any airplay by Brown in over 10 years. “They’re in my CD case, but I got those back when I was still in college (at the University of Texas-San Antonio),” Brown explained. “I definitely haven’t listened to any of them lately.”
