Good day, Hornets fans. It’s your pal Hornet Henry checking in again on Swarm City, my favorite social-networking platform. You know, I was hitting the treadmill last night at Elmwood Fitness Center – trying to get rid of my pesky cerveza gut during the offseason – when I stumbled upon the Sugar Bowl awards ceremony show on TV.
As the broadcast progressed, I saw a very familiar face pop up on the screen… none other than the World’s Greatest Point Guard, CP3. He talked to a captivated audience about his life experiences, and also told the children on hand to always remember that “dreams do come true, if you keep working hard.”
Well, today I’m proud to say that CP3’s words and deeds have again proven profound. After several years (it seemed like decades) of begging and pleading, my request to attend Honeybees auditions has been granted! That’s right, the powers that be relented and gave me the OK to visit the closed-to-the-public event known as the first round of Honeybee tryouts!
As y’all may or may not know, I am arguably the globe’s most fervent supporter of the NBA’s premier dance team. Why do I love the Honeybees so much? Because they’re not only talented, intelligent, gracious, sweet, witty, dependable, caring, funny, friendly, gregarious, benevolent, hard-working, diligent and charming, but they’re also amazing dancers! Have you seen these ladies perform their incredibly skilled dance moves on the Hive hardwood? Did you know the Bees made it to the Western Conference finals of the 2009 NBA.com dance bracket tournament?
But I digress. This Saturday I will finally be able to cross off “Honeybee auditions” on my Hornets to-do list (I can’t wait to put an X through “NBA Finals” and “championship parade in downtown NOLA” someday as well!). Make sure you visit Hornets.com, www.twitter.com/hornetsdotcom and my Facebook page over the next several days for comprehensive coverage of this historic event. I am hoping to provide you with a journalistically sound recap of what will certainly be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but I can’t promise you it will be more entertaining or enlightening than the riveting video and photo recaps of this event on Hornets.com.
I was also hoping to conduct several enthralling and gripping interviews with some of the contestants on Saturday, but Mrs. Hornet Henry told me she had to draw a line somewhere. :(
Until next time, geaux Hornets! Geaux Honeybees!
